Stop being the best-kept secret.

You are too good to be invisible.

The house identity of Unforged, written for the person who has to build the next surface. Why it looks like this, how to use it, what breaks it.

Start at the foundation

Unforged is the personal brand system for people who are already good.

The name is the idea. Unforged is the state before the shape: the metal is already good, it has not been given its form yet. The client is excellent and invisible. Unforged builds the entire visible brand around that person, done for you, AI native, and owned by the client when it is done.

The one line pitch is the whole promise in a sentence a client can repeat. We build the business around you, so you can stay in your craft.

Everything on the following pages derives from that. The identity has one job before it has any other: a company that sells visibility must itself be impossible to overlook.

Six things are stated, not rederived. Everything else is derived and may be challenged with evidence.

The fixed assets every surface builds on
Asset What it is Where it is written
Name UNFORGED. Uppercase in the wordmark, always. Unforged, sentence case, in running prose. Voice
Meaning The state before the shape. Carries both unfinished, meaning potential, and unbreakable, meaning strength. Foundation
Slogan Stop being the best-kept secret. Hyphenated, always. Set as a three line flush block in the display voice. Type
Marks The chrome wordmark, light version and black chrome dark version. The icon is the wordmark's own first letter, cropped out of it. Marks
Direction Broadside. Ink on paper, one flood, three signals in roles, chrome as an ingredient and never a surface. Colour
Naming split Legal documents carry Voyage Digital Ltd. Everything a client reads carries Unforged. The two marks never share a document. Voice

Source: brand-core.md section 4, superseded on the direction and the marks by the rulings of 2026-08-22 and 2026-08-28. Every ruling is on the decisions page.

Nine chapters. Read the foundation once, then use the rest as a reference.

  • Foundation What the brand is, who it is for, and the criteria any direction has to meet before it is allowed to be the identity.
  • Voice How the brand writes. Four principles, the banned vocabulary, and worked examples of right and wrong.
  • Colour The palette in roles: the grounds, the ink ramp, the signals, chrome as an ingredient, and what may sit on what.
  • Type Three voices in two families, nine steps with every number, and the flush device explained on the slogan.
  • Marks The logo: which version goes where, at what size, with how much air, and the eighteen ways to break it.
  • Imagery What a picture may be, the chrome explainer objects, what a generator may be asked for, and why nothing moves.
  • Surfaces The templates, online and offline, each linking to the folder that holds its artwork and its spec.
  • Build How to build a surface: the tokens, the components, the gates, in the order a builder needs them.
  • Decisions The rulings and the reason each one was made, newest first, with the record that binds it.

Two tests. If the book fails either one, the book is wrong, not the reader.

A new operator reads this and builds an Unforged surface without asking anyone. A cold reader finds the answer to a real question in thirty seconds.

Three things this book is not. It is not the style guide: the components, their markup and their demos live in the living style guide, and this book never repeats them. It is not the source of a value: every colour, size, space and motion value lives once, in 01_IDENTITY/02_TOKENS/tokens.json, and a number printed here is documentation of the token that paints it. And it is not a decision surface: the rulings are recorded, not reopened.

Where this book and an identity document disagree, the document wins and this page is the defect. Each chapter names the file it is written from.
